Leadership Troy

Under the direction of the Troy Area Chamber of Commerce, the Leadership Troy program is designed to give each participant working knowledge of our local government, education system, growth in terms of industrial and economic development, quality of life and civic and leisure opportunities.

This program also works to provide networking opportunities for individuals seeking a leadership role in business, civic organizations or in the community. In its 8th year of existence, the Leadership Troy program has had over 100 graduates. Topic areas have been selected which highlight the community and its many facets.

Attendance to each session is a requirement for graduation.


SESSIONS
The Leadership Troy program takes place on the first Friday of each month over a five month period from August through December. Each session starts at 8:00 a.m. and concludes at 1:00 p.m. Topics for the Fall 2005 session include: Orientation:

  • Thursday, July 27 at 6:30 pm at Peoples Bank & Trust, Cherry Street
  • August 5 - Civic & Leisure
  • September 2 - Government Affairs
  • October 7 - Quality of Life
  • November 4 - Industrial/Economic Development
  • December 2 - Education & Life Long Learning Graduation ceremonies are part of the Troy Area Chamber of Commerce
  • 2006 Awards & Installation Banquet scheduled for January 21, 2006.


FACING THE CHANGES
Census figures for the year 2000 show that Troy experienced a population growth rate of 76.8%. This rapid growth has had a direct effect on every aspect of our community. The Leadership Troy program addresses the changes taking place as a result of increased population and economic growth from an educational, civic, leisure, government and economic and industrial development standpoint.


COST OF THE PROGRAM
The cost of the leadership Troy program is $150.00 per participant. This covers five educational sessions, program materials, transportation, orientation, and lunch at each session.

Applications should be filled out and returned to the Chamber office no later than July 10, 2005.
