The
Police Department
- The Troy Police Department serves a population of
approximately 13,500 people including residents and
visitors to the city. The department provides 24-hour
police protection with a paid working dispatch service
from central dispatch of Lincoln County. It boasts
a detective unit, traffic unit, K-9 unit, and a first
response and entry team, in addition to providing
standard police functions.

The organization is currently a 30-man department
with three civilian employees. In an effort to stay
updated on training and certification, the department
is affiliated with the Eastern Missouri Police Training
Academy. A D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education)
officer is on staff to educate students on the D.A.R.E.
Program.
- In addition, a firearms officer is employed by the
department to ensure that officers are qualified for
both high and low-intensity type situations. The department
provides a valuable community service by giving demonstrations
and making educational presentations about the city
of Troy Police Department.
